Easy Exercises for Pregnancy Review

During the last trimester when I was more uncomfortable, the exercises I did from this book helped me to relax. Since I was walking, sitting and sleeping differently (than before getting pregnant), the exercises in this book helped me to stretch muscles safely and also to meditate/relax tight muscles. This was extremely helpful during the last week of my pregnancy, since my baby was pinching my psiatic nerve in my lower back. A few exercises helped my body to better deal with this type of discomfort.

I read The Belated Baby in one sitting often with tears in my eyes. Reading it felt like sitting with a good friend who has felt the pain and disappointment all women feel who have struggled with infertility. As a hopeful, waiting adoptive mother-to-be, I found it particularly helpful in foreshadowing what may come after our much longed for baby finally arrives. In one excerpt the author describes herself sitting in a coffee shop when an expectant mom comes in and sits beside her. When the author feels her body stiffen but her heart soften, I felt hopeful that someday I too will feel that brand of genuine joy for the happiness of other women. Knowing that it is normal for the disappointment of infertility to persist even after the baby arrives is a good lesson and reading the book before parenthood for the still childless couple is a great way to prepare for the emotions that are sure to remain even after children. Those of us who are infertile are going to walk again someday, and the arrival of a baby helps us to do that, but most of us will always walk with just a little limp---it's the battle wound of what it took for us to get there. The book was hopeful and sensible and validates every feeling I have as someone who cannot create children. A must read.

Chosen As The Frenchman's Bride (Harlequin Presents) Review

What I can I say? This new writer did a wonderful job with the storyline. It was very believable and realistic, yet still romantic. The two main characters have a sizzling chemistry from the moment they meet and it was maintained throughout the entire story. Both were flawed but very likeable, especially the hero. The setting was vivid and romantic and the plot flowed very well, although there were a few parts that were frustrating. However, it was not ridiculously drawn out so as to overpower a great plot.
It is refreshing to read something for a change under the harlequin title, done with a sort of old approach, dressed and spiced up so as to make it refreshing. It kept me reading until 3 am and I had to go to work the same day. Now that has to be a really good book!
I say great job to Ms. Green for such a wonderful first effort. I hope she keeps up the good work and show those other boring, no-imagination harlequin writers how a real romance should be written.

I would just like to start out saying that I haven't read the other two books that go with this series. In the future I might read them because I really did enjoy the premise behind the series even if it was a little out there. When I first read the story I was a little confused by what was going on. Just an fyi it starts with a story and then goes into the future, but then goes back in time and then goes in the future four years later....see why I was confused. Just keep reading and all the back and forth will make sense.
Jack and Laurel well they have an interesting back story. Jack is "in love" with Laurel's sister and Jack had to leave while they were courting because of war. He comes back and Laurel sleeps with him to soothe his heartache over the loss of his cousin who died. When Jack wakes up he think that he slept with Amy instead of Laurel and goes and talks to her father for her hand in marriage. He comes to find out that Amy has moved on to bigger and better things and doesn't want to marry him. He leaves and doesn't come back for four years when he gets a letter from his friend telling him to come home.
Laurel tries to get Melody back from Jack and he locks her in an attic...I know.....seriously who does that!!! This is one of the things I mean by out there. I still liked the story. Jack is an interesting character he isn't charming and doesn't know exactly what to say he struggles...a lot. You are really able to see his and Laurels growth throughout the book and that is something I enjoy in any romance novel. It is like you are on the side lines to their romance. I don't want to say much else because I don't want to give away the rest of the story. Anyway, Melody is seriously adorable and I wish that if I were to have a child she would be just as cute, but I am not going to get my hopes up.
I use to be a nanny to an adorable little girl. Melody made me think of her and what a blessing children are and how they really have the power to open people's hearts.

The Mother-to-Be's Dream Book: Understanding the Dreams of Pregnancy Review

What I first noticed about this book was the intriguing title...intriguing to me as a father of two young ones. My original expectations when I opened it did not live up to the very reality of the book itself. I guess I'm cynical because so many books dealing in the arena of psychology, and especially dream analysis, seem to be either arcane and unreadable for the layman like me, or annoyingly trendy and superficial psychobabble. THIS BOOK HAS NONE OF THOSE SHORTCOMINGS!
What Ms. Paris has written here is a thoughtful, sensitive, profoundly insightful book about the confounding and sublime experience presented by a woman's inner consciousness as new life grows, and she prepares to meet the new physical, emotional, and psychological challenges of birth and parenthood.
I wish my wife and I could have read it during both of her pregnancies. We each tackled sometimes funny, sometimes scary dreams we could make no sense of in terms of the impending events. It was a wild ride, often surreal and hilarious, occasionally unsettling. We didn't have a clue.
Had I read this, I think I could have been a more effective support to my partner in some of those times. Paris' intelligent presentation and analysis give meaning and context to the dreams themselves; and her gentle, authoritative suggestions of ways to prepare for and to respond to the dreams could be a blessing for any parent-to-be.
We've loved reading it, even some years after the fact of those births. With humor and insight, she's given us new and worthwhile understanding of our own path to getting here as parents. In clear, well-written, accesible language, it makes the journey to joy even more of a celebration. We're sending it to all our new or about-to-be-parent friends.
