I fell in love with Jeff Masson again!
I thought no book, his or any other author's, would move me as WHEN ELEPHANTS WEEP did too long ago. I marked so many pages, read and reread this one that I might need to get another copy. The beauty of his writing and his love for this topic shines so clearly throughout this book.
I can only imagine the research he has done. How does he share every story as if he were there with the Emperor penguin father who incubates the egg for 65 days while mom goes for food or with the wolf dads who are so important to the survival of their species.
I wanted to apologize to my male dog because, as Masson writes, we humans have domesticated fatherhood out of our dogs, Of course, there's only one leader of the pack.
What an experience! Thank you, Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson! Please never stop writing.
