Around the Birthing Ball Review

This is a wonderful book for first-time moms who are all confused about what is right or wrong and what is ahead of them! The best time to read this book is at the time when as a woman you are nervous to think about the delivery, but the thought of it coming up is starting to make its way in your mind. What is great about this book is that it has a variety of stories from different perspectives and with different situations: for example, besides women who gave birth, it also includes the experiences of a midwife and a medical professional. This makes the book very interesting and informative, sending the message that there are many ways delivery can go in spite of planning and that at the end of the day there is no one right way. The book also leads you through the emotions that women go through and definitely helps you cope with those at a time when you are excited, uncertain, confused and overwhelmed. The intro, conclusion and the small intros before each story put a nice structure around the book. The glossary at the end is a very nice addition as well: you can learn a lot from it when all the information out there is either too much or too confusing! :)
I also think that this is a quick and easy read so you can greatly enjoy it without feeling overwhelmed.
As a first time mom, I went to a child birth class, talked to many people and tried to get a lot of information from different sources. This book, along with Baby Story show on TLC gave me the most real life stories that were the most helpful.
A great read and definitely worth it!
