Mommy And The Millionaire (Silhouette Special Edition) Review
I am writing this review mainly to make up for the unfair valuation that is currently taking up space. I would like to give it 5 stars to make up for the unfair 1 star review, but I have to be honest about how I actually saw the book.This was a very sweet story about two total opposites falling in love. Naomi is young, poor and pregnant. She grew up on the wrong side of the tracks and has recently moved to give her and her forthcoming child a new start after FOB abandoned them. The hero is... kind of bland. Your average emotionally constipated billionaire male lead. He falls for her when she's kind to him without knowing his name or about his money, and ends up falling for her boringly sweet and nurturing nature.
There was no heat at all in this story. I personally like heroines who are more sassy than sweet, and Naomi had spunk, but no sass. The male lead was so boring I don't even remember his name.
I liked the proposed story, but there were just no fireworks or sparkle to the execution. I wasn't looking for melodrama, just enjoyable tension. I have bought one other title from this author and had the same issue. That one was so boring I didn't even finish the book (and I am a compulsive finisher). As much as I was intrigued and refreshed to find a romance novel that focuses on an inter-racial relationship (although it must be said our female lead is barely black. She's really more tan than black, and there are no aspects of African-American culture involved in the book- which is unfortunately probably a must for something being sold in the mainstream market) and feel that there need to be more written, I just can't recommend this one.
