When she was seventeen, Lacey Kerr spent an evening with nineteen-year-old, handsome as the devil Tully Cleaver and a baby girl, Lacey named Emma, was the result. Tully, though, not the marrying kind, to his credit contributed financially to his daughter's upbringing and saw her on weekends.
Now it's ten years later and Lacey tells Tully she wants to get married and Tully is upset. He meets and grills her fiancé Julian, an attorney eleven years older than Lacey with a sixteen-year-old daughter, and, of course, he finds the man wanting. He also doesn't want anyone else raising his daugher.
And wouldn't you know it, Lacey has stayed pure as virgin white snow all these ten years. Not even doing the deed with her fiancé. This I don't get, because her ex, who she is supposedly not pining away for, is a jerk. And if that weren't enough for poor Lacey, the daughter she loves so much is a spoiled brat who doesn't seem to give a wit about her mother at all. Sheesh, if Lacey were any kind of a woman at all, she'd leave the brat with the ex and head out for greener pastures, but, you know, that doesn't happen here in this romance that didn't excite me very much at all.

Greek Tycoon, Inexperienced Mistress (Harlequin Presents) Review

You always have an idea that there will be times that you'll want to (at least I'll want to) hit him where it'll hurt but in this case... I felt more frustrated at the Heroine. (Please beware I offer examples from the book, so that you get a better idea of its contents, but I wouldn't want to give spoilers without a warning)
Her whole life she has felt inadequate because she is a curvy woman, not a waif-like creature that grace runways, or magazine covers. So I understand she had self esteem issues, but not to the point where she becomes a mistress without even knowing it. I loved her at the beginning as I saw her as a strong woman who very politely informed him that she had not forgiven his awful behavior despite the flowers or the invitation to dinner that he sent.
But that was before their affair started.Atreus molds her into the perfect weekend lover, tells her he prefers skirts on his women etc... and she falls right into it, adjusting things about her life and herself to please him. He never speaks of a relationship, never deceives her, they hook up every weekend and 18 months later it takes another persons observation to make her realize she's his mistress and not his girlfriend.
Then the next time she meets him, he makes it clear he's so careful with contraception because he does not want a child with her. That he doesn't want children until he marries and that he plans to marry a woman from his social circles.Lindy gets upset that he should have told her they were entering a dead-end affair from the beginning, but really was she thinking at all because it was very obvious that's what it was. They break up, he wants her away from him, goes as far as to evict her out of his cottage that shes leasing. She knows shes pregnant when she leaves but understandably doesn't tell him in light of their last conversation.
I don't think there was ever really any real indication that Atreus cared for her, we are jerked around emotionally. After they break up he's a stone throws away from being engaged to his perfect version of a bride,when he finds out Lindy's pregnant he informs her that she has dibs because she's pregnant (no talk about emotions) so I'm calling off the engagement and we can get married.
She holds off his proposal for a while (because she knows its a mistake but then she's right back to drowning in the adoration she feels for this man and insecurities about him wanting her. Well obviously, she never knew where she stood in his life, even after being married.
Then in the last few pages we are told Atreus loved her from the beginning and that he wanted to go back to her, that his ex-fiancee did not hold a candle to her, but it still feels like the relationship was never developed. So I never rooted for Lindy or them, I honestly just wished I could hear more about my other pairs Sergei & Alissa or even Jasim and Elinor; whose books I was able to enjoy.

Lindy was amazed when shipping tycoon Atreus Drakos made her his mistress. "Her"--with her fuller figure and lowly lifestyle making candles and potpourri! However, Atreus seemed enchanted by her curves when he made passionate love to her at his country retreat.

The Greek Tycoon's Pregnant Wife (Harlequin Presents # 2685) Review

I must say I was rather reluctant at first to read this book, not because of the story line but because of the author. I have had a lot of "hit or misses" with Anne Mather, more misses. Her storylines tend to drag to me, but this book was up pace from the first few pages and kept going along until the end. The main characters Jane and Demetri were hmmm confused to say the least, they had been married for 5 years in total and actually together for 2 and a half years. They broke up because of an alleged infidelity committed by Demetri, which he denied ever having done, of course Jane being heartbroken left him. Fast forward 2 almost 3 years later. Demetri comes back into Jane's life because he wants a divorce in order to marry and have a child with someone else. On their first meeting after being apart for so long they end up having sex, which you find out later in the book leaves Jane pregnant, but she doesn't tell him this, because of course they are in the process of divorcing; if that isn't enough Demetri's father is dying and ask that Jane come to see him in Greece before he dies.
Introducing Jane's moral dilemma, should she go to see her dying father-in-law and risk having another intimate run in with her soon to be ex-husband his new fiancée as well as the woman who she suspects he cheated on her with (who happens to be a different woman NOT the fiancée). In this mix add in if you will Jane's meddling boss, her emotionally blackmailing-meddling mother, her mother-in-law from HELL and Demetri's gay brother and his brother who's a priest and you have the perfect cocktail for an ABC network movie of the week!!!!!! It was fabulously trashy and dramatic, and somehow these two find their way back to one another through all the muck and meyer. I Loved It !!!!!

Innocent Secretary...Accidentally Pregnant (Harlequin Presents) Review

Let me start out by commenting that if you only read the first two chapters of a book, then you have no right to post a comment.
Now for the rest of us who actually read the book, or who plan on reading the book in its entirety, it is a worthwhile read. The heroine had gumption and spunk, but managed to be soft and caring without being a pushover.
The hero had his issues and used them to push her away, but unlike a lot of other books, he had legitimate reasons for doing so and really pushed her away to protect her. I like the fact that he loves her enough to seek counselling and to talk out his problems with those closest to him.
Truthfully, the only problem I had was that this was the first Carol Marinelli book I read, and after this book sought out a lot of her other work. Much to my disappointment, this was her best work. Her other books just didn't have the depth or character development or a page turning plot that this one had.
Definitely recommend.

Bought: The Greek Baby is about revenge and hatred all directed at his ex-lover Eve because she betrayed him. The frustration, anger and lust Talos feels for Eve Craig literally leaps off of the pages as penned by the very talented Jennie Lucas.
For months Talos has been looking for Eve and now his men have found her in London while she was attending her stepfather's funeral. They've tailed her car and witnessed, before their eyes, her getting into a car accident which has resulted in amnesia. To top it off, when he arrives and speaks with the doctor he is told she is pregnant with his child. Before she regains her memory and because of the selfish person she was, he's determined to marry her immediately to protect their baby at all costs.
I could not stop thinking about how it would feel to be that attracted to someone, to let your guard down and then to be betrayed and almost loose everything. Of course one would want to get even but for him to still be fighting the passion he felt for her..... what an emotional roller coaster for Talos.
Before she leaves London, Eve insists she stop and get her passport and things at her deceased step-fathers home. What she finds out and sees she doesn't like. She views her bedroom, the designer clothes and finds out from the housekeeper how much her step-father loved her and is told she didn't even return home for the holidays. She's saddened that she was that selfish. She also finds out from Talos that she was a party girl, travelling with friends all over the world.
So Talos forms a plan.....he wants to take her places to force her memory. So the first stop is Venice where they originally met. Every man in Venice can't keep their eyes off of her due to her beauty and figure and it makes her feel uncomfortable and cheap. So she goes shopping for a simpler wardrobe and cuts her hair. Talos can't believe her new look, he remembers the passion they shared, and when they made love, she was a virgin. He also remembers how she almost cost him his wealth and company when she turned over important papers to his rival.
When they bump into an old friend in Venice who volunteers his Tuscany home for their wedding, he takes him up on it and she agrees. However, immediately after the wedding, he's so frustrated with her because in this amnesia state, she's sweet, wholesome and he's so very frustrated and angry, he whisks her away and they fly to their home in Athens, leaving Eve bewildered and upset.
Could this get any worse? Yes it does and more! In his frustration for her to remember her betrayal, Talos is cruel. He takes her to a party where his rival was attending and forces her to dance with him. Still she doesn't remember. And then he takes her to her favorite restaurant and tells her what's she did and still no memory. She's shocked at what she did, apologizes and then she tells him no matter what, she loves him.
In a dream she remembers a little and asks about her family which Talos can't answer because they never discussed their families they only made love! Then Eve remembers and it's quite amazing because she was also out for revenge against Talos. It was let's say, an unbelievable twist to this magnificent story.
As a reader of romance this particular romance had so many twists and turns, was very intense, and full of revenge it kept me up most of the night. My heart was pounding, my emotions were all over the place and I so loved this story and wished for a happy ending and I got one! Forgiveness, understanding and what's important LOVE and that's what Bought: The Greek's Baby was all about........a fabulous love story with an emotional happy ending!USA Today Bestseller
