Whoogles: Can a Dog Make a Woman Pregnant - And Hundreds of Other Searches That Make You Ask "Who Would Google That" Review

You know what really grinds my gears? Lazy comedians who make fun of things they can't be bothered to, you know, Google. (Also, even lazier comedians who start self-referential jokes with a really obvious cliche, but that's neither here nor there.)
The premise of this book is fairly interesting -- type partial search strings into Google and pick out the strangest suggestions for string completions. Frequently the authors manage to find something good, but every once in a while they manage to come up with things that, well, aren't funny. And that's where the real humor in this book lies -- the authors missing a pop cultural reference or something like that and making idiots of themselves in front of the reader.
This book isn't trying very hard, and as a result I'm not going to try very hard with this review. There's just not much point in buying it; someone else will probably come up with exactly the same thing a year from now, and likely do it better.

Whoogles: Can a Dog Make a Woman Pregnant - And Hundreds of Other Searches That Make You Ask "Who Would Google That" Overview

"If I use a tampon, am I still a virgin?""How drunk am I?""Can I catch herpes from my cat?""Is it bad to make yourself throw up?"There's strange and then there's Google strange. People turn to Google to ask the questions they don't dare ask anyone else. This collection of unbelievable Google searches reveals the bizarre, ill-informed, and sometimes sick nature of everyday people. Whether it's researching how to manually force poop out of their body or wondering if jail is really that bad, this book proves that the truth really is stranger than fiction.

Diary of a Mad Mom-to-Be Review

Amy Thomas is back! This time she has taken it upon herself to obsess about her pregnancy. She goes through one misadventure after another as she realizes that her birth date's looming and she hasn't achieved the tasks at hand on her 63-item To Do List. To make matters worse, she's lost her job, owns a rather small apartment and her husband finds it difficult to deal with her neurotic manner. She begins to wonder whether having a child was a good idea after all...
This novel is hilarious! Amy's one of the most neurotic characters ever written. Just when I thought she couldn't be more insubordinate in Diary of a Mad Bride, her obsessive behavior reaches outrageous and laugh out loud proportions in the second novel. Laura Wolf is a great writer, not unlike Sophie Kinsella -- author of Confessions of a Shopaholic. Their writing styles are quite similar.
Diary of a Mad Mom-to-Be is a great summer reading investment. Highly recommended...

The Guy's Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth and the First Year of Fatherhood Review

This book is exactly what the author claims it to be: the story of a man who never wanted to be a father and to whom this seems to have happened accidentally. Until then, we're ok. Soon we realize that the author has no or very little education on pregnancy, child education or any sort of academic background granting him the right to claim providing fathers-to-be with a "surviving guide".
In reality, the macho and insensitive approach to the book makes one feel that pregnancy is a burden and that, whatever you do as a father-to-be, just do the bare minimum to survive and hope for the best.
I guess in this day and age, everyone believes they have a right to express themselves and publish a book. In our capitalist mind, it's OK, but all this book is doing is taking space on a shelf in some bookstore.
I strongly disadvise reading this if you want to learn anything about how to help your partner, wife or girlfriend to get through pregnancy. And mostly, I strongly disadvise reading this book if you want tips on how to deal with your new role and responsibilities as a father.

The Guy's Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth and the First Year of Fatherhood Overview

In high school, Michael Crider was the jokester, the drummer in a band, the Howie Mandel impersonator. Fast-forward ten years and the funny man has married and become the family man. The Guy's Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the First Year of Fatherhood-Crider's candid, down-to-earth account of his transformation-proves that even without much sleep, he has kept his sense of humor completely intact. From the moment he hears the unexpected news that the pregnancy test is positive to the end of his son's first year of life, Michael Crider is awed, anxious, and all-too-human. In between these milestones, he endures the aches and pains of his wife's pregnancy (which had a clear impact on his own bodily comfort), swallows his pride when bunny wallpaper replaces his beloved Budweiser mirror, has a short and only partially-appreciated stint as her labor coach on the Big Day, and experiences every one of his son's "firsts" as though they were his own. Honest, informative, hilarious, and heartwarming, The Guy's Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the First Year of Fatherhood is a must-read for all new parents.

Pregnancy Sucks For Men: What to Do When Your Miracle Makes You BOTH Miserable Review

My husband and I were a little overwhelmed when we got pregnant. After we received Pregnancy Sucks for Men for a shower gift, my husband and could laugh and relax a little more about the prospect of becoming parents. This book was very funny. Both of Kimes books Pregnancy Sucks and Pregnancy Sucks for Men are hilarious as well as informative. I am going to give them as gifts for every baby shower!

Pregnancy Sucks For Men: What to Do When Your Miracle Makes You BOTH Miserable Overview

In Pregnancy Sucks for Men, the author and her husband tell it like it is and show men how they can help their partners out without doing the chore wrong; understand and cope with their wives' emotional rollercoaster rides; and duck for cover when the mood swings are aimed at their heads. Utterly hilarious, this book enables the father-to-be to: Offer and prepare the right foods when the woman of his dreams turns into a frightening hungry beast; Woo his wife into bed with romance, good timing and by getting the housework done; Arranged in convenient, month-by-month format and broken up by man-on-the-sreet quotes, Pregnancy Sucks for Men is the one pregnancy book a man will proudly buy for himself.
