The Sheik and the Princess Bride (Desert Rogues, No. 8) Review

Billie Van Horn's and Prince Jefri's story to me is probably the "spunkiest", if that's a word, of Susan Mallery's Desert Rogue series. It was so much fun to read and yet a little sad.
Billie is the only girl in her family of men who travel all over the world training countries and pilots in the art of flying jets. Billie is an ace pilot and has never been beaten by a man. She is fun, beautiful, sexy, and spunky and longs to meet a man who accepts her for just being Billie.
Prince Jefri is the youngest son of the King of Bahania and is in charge of setting up the air force for Bahania, El Bahar and The City of Thieves. He is a Cracker Jack pilot as well, a ladies man and just plain sexy and handsome. However, he has also agreed to accept a wife as arranged by his father. Little does he realize he will be so strongly attracted to Billie and later fall in love with her. However, his "arranged" bride-to-be arrives on the scene only to complicate matters. Enter one huge mess and to add to the mix, Billie's brother and the King interfering in their relationship.
Again, Susan Mallery has written such an enjoyable story....love, lust and passion all in a desert setting.
Back Cover Book Summary
Lovely blonde Billie Van Horn is a gorgeous, take-no-prisoners flight instructor who has been assigned to train a number of pilots in Bahania, including the ultra-masculine Prince Jefri. At first Jefri is miffed at being bested by the beautiful super-pilot, but after he lays his eyes on her, he becomes hopelessly smitten.
The prince invites Billie to stay at his family's palace during the duration of the flight training, an offer she eager accepts. With her dog Muffin and her brother Doyle, Billie settles into the luxurious suite and enjoys her close proximity to Jefri.
But Billie is crestfallen when Jefri's future wife, the young and shy Tahira, arrives on the scene. Before meeting Billie, Jefri asked his father to find a suitable wife...and is dismayed when it seems to be too late to cancel his marriage plans. Billie is well aware that when royal honor calls, her high-born lover will have to fly from her side forever...unless he defies his destiny and chooses love

The Sheik & The Princess in Waiting (Desert Rogues, No. 7) Review

Little does Emma Kennedy realize that she is still married to Prince Reyhan of Bahania and that years ago her parents kept her away from the handsome Prince. So when she is approached by the State Department and asked to travel to Bahania per the request of the King, she's stunned.
Prince Reyhan, he's closed his heart but upon seeing Emma, he longs for what might have been but is determined not to let things get out of hand.
As this story unfolds, they learn that Emma's parents tried to keep them apart. What doesn't help matters is that the King insists that they spend a few weeks together to reacquaint them selves with each other. If matters can't get any worse, Emma's protective parents arrive in Bahania and try to discourage Emma from seeing Reyhan.
Can this couple find their way back to each other? Susan Mallery tells their love story in such a way that it will melt and pull at your heart. This proud Prince will fall to his knees over the beautiful Emma. This is just another wonderful story and addition to Susan's Desert Rogue Series.
Back Cover Book Summary:
Emma Kennedy is working as a nurse in Dallas when two men await her at her apartment one day to inform her that the king of Bahania has requested that she travel to his country. At first she is puzzled, but when she realizes that his son, Prince Reyhan, is behind the reason, she literally faints when she sees him again after six years.
During their college days, the two married in a ceremony in the Caribbean. But had it been a real ceremony? Emma always thought it had been for "pretend", especially when he abruptly left her soon after their honeymoon. But the marriage is real, and the two are still very much husband and wife. Upon discovering this secret, the king orders Reyhan to spend two weeks with his wife before he is willing to grant a royal annulment so that his son can follow through with his wish to have an arranged marriage.
The two have no choice but get reacquainted with each other...and isn't the paradise of Bahania the perfect place to fall in love all over again?

Having Her Boss's Baby (Silhouette Special Edition) Review

HAVING HER BOSS'S BABY does not describe this book at all!
Noelle Stevenson works in Dev Hunter's office and dated his younger brother Jimmy. At Dev's instance Jimmy joined the Army in hopes he would learn some responsibility. He was killed and a few months later Noelle suspects she's pregnant. So her family won't suspect, she takes a test early in the morning in the corporate bathroom and it's confirmed! Dev bumps into her; the test falls to the floor and he learns the news. He blames himself for his brother's death as it was he who insisted Jimmy join the military. For Dev, marrying Noelle is the only solution. He proposes marriage and to help with the baby for two years. After that he'll give her a generous settlement. So off to Vegas for a quick wedding and then home to tell Noelle's family the news.
This couple settles quite well into married life. The truth of how Dev and Jimmy were raised is revealed to Noelle. She learns that Jimmy was spoiled, he was always in trouble, and never took responsibility. It is also revealed when the boys were younger, their mom passed away and their father left, leaving their grandfather to raise them. Dev inherits the responsibility of the business and raising his brother when their grandfather passes. Of course, Dev shoulders the blame and for him love will never enter the picture. Did I say never? Little does Dev realize he's slowly falling under Noelle's spell. Noelle realizes she is deeply in love with Dev. She "hadn't given him her heart lightly".
This couple's journey is a painful one. There is laughter in this book, lots of it, a real sense of family and family dynamics but also a lot of pain. Dev is forced to explore his feelings and in the end confront them. Right before your eyes, Noelle grows from a young girl to a woman, a warm woman giving her heart to her new husband.I cried for Dev and all he had been through but the ending is bittersweet.
This is the first book in Susan Mallery's Positively Pregnant series and is an excellent start and very entertaining as well.

Having Her Boss's Baby (Silhouette Special Edition) Overview

When Noelle Stevenson saw the positive results of her pregnancy test, she didn't know what to do. The baby's father was gone, killed serving his country in Iraq. And nineteen-year-old Noelle was barely making ends meet putting herself through college and working part-time. So when her take-charge boss, Devlin Hunter, offered to marry her--in a purely temporary business arrangement--how could she possibly refuse?

Dev wanted to do the right thing for a woman in need. But he didn't anticipate that his beautiful bride, wed in a marriage of convenience, would stir his hardened heart. This platonic partnership was rapidly headed down the road to romance....

The Ladies' Man (Silhouette Special Edition) Review

Now, I always admit to being picky about the books I read but this one is beyond being picky. The Ladies' Man is a complete misnomer for a title. Carter Brockett is a straight up mama's boy. This hero is the prototype for all things mama's boy. You know that type of man and he's a mess.
Short and simple, Rachel goes with her friend for moral support in breaking up with a boyfriend at a bar. It's a cop bar. Carter sees prim and proper Rachel and starts talking. Rachel's friend leaves her at the bar and Carter takes her home. They have sex, unprotected and bada boom she's pregnant 2 weeks later.
Carter is the BIGGEST manwhore. In the town of Riverside, California Carter has been inside nearly EVERY woman under the age of 35. It's one thing to date a lot but Carter's exes coming out of the woodwork was just nasty. They all hear that he's "settling down" because he got one knocked up so EVERYWHERE Rachel turns, some ex is coming up to Carter "OMG Carter Brockett is that YOU? It's been 6 years! You broke up with me even though I wanted you but I'm HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY now."
Ms. Mallery made me sick overwhelming me with his former conquests. The first few times it was fine then it was just ridiculous. We get it lady! He's dipped his wick in EVERY candle he could light. Enough already. How some editor let that go through publishing I'll never know.
Then there's his mother...and his THREE sisters. Carter is a grown ass, 30 year old man who's a undercover cop. His mother waltzed into his house at all hours of the day unannounced. His sisters get their husbands to ambush Rachel at work and spout 1950s BS about needing to be barefoot and pregnant with a ring on it and when she says no they make sure to look at her like she's a tramp.
Carter just lets them walk ALL over him and interfere in his relationship with Rachel. They know nothing about each other and need to figure things out for the child they created YET his family is trying to basically fit her for a wedding dress in her sleep. And Carter just lets them interfere and walk all over his relationship with Rachel. I think Ms. Mallery thought it was cute and caring just because Rachel doesn't have any family but it was infuriating. How Rachel, a pregnant, hormonal woman didn't fly off the handle and lash out at them for butting in the 100th time I'll never know.
Carter was a big man child, mama's boy and Rachel was a skittish avoider and this story wasn't cute. The author tried to hard to make it cute and interfering families isn't cute regardless of the H or H being an orphan.

The Ladies' Man (Silhouette Special Edition) Overview

She'd resolved to "act more sophisticated" and "get out more." But the rumpled bedding, the coffee brewed by other hands and The Note reminded Rachel Harper that she'd done something completely out of character. She'd brought a man home from a bar.

And apparently made a baby.

She'd been nervous to tell Carter Brockett the news. Oh, she felt strangely safe with him despite his dangerous looks. Worse, she liked him. But what must he think of the naive schoolteacher who'd lost control and gotten herself knocked up? After all, the man had a legion of exes who'd been unable to snare a commitment, and here she had a forever-binding one!

Then she remembered. He'd lost control, too....

The Princess Is Pregnant (Crown and Glory) (Silhouette Special Edition) Review

Princess meets Prince Charming. Princess sleeps with Prince Charming. Princess gets pregnant? Princess refuses request for her hand in marriage?
This book only gets four stars because I can not believe the princess (Megan) in this story. She was so immature about the whole thing. She gets knocked up and doesn't want to take on her repsonsibility. Oh she wants the baby (Like she's really going to be raising it considering all the people there to help her care for it). But she doesn't want to bite the bullet and marry the Prince who knocked her up. And why? Because she wants to marry for love. I won't say what I want to here about that.
Either way it was a good book. I read it. I liked it. The chemistry felt real between the two main characters. Thiss being a series of course we aren't allowed to get all our questions answered. Bummer.

The Princess Is Pregnant (Crown and Glory) (Silhouette Special Edition) Overview

One steamy night wrapped in the arms of sexy rebel Jean-Paul Augustave, Earl of Silvershire, left innocent Princess Megan Penelope Penwyck longing for more passion's play--and pregnant! Now, torn between causing a royal scandal and entering into a marriage of convenience, she wished only that the seductive earl would profess his undying love.

Jean-Paul wanted to take responsibility for his sultry affair with the princess. And the longer he gazed into Megan's green eyes, the deeper his feelings became. So when the royal beauty suddenly fell ill, would he finally whisper the only words that could restore her health...Princess, I love you?

The Sheik And The Pregnant Bride (Silhouette Special Edition) Review

Another great Desert Sheik book from Susan Mallery.
Our heroine, Maggie Collins, of Aspen Colorado has been emailing Prince Qadir of El Deharia to get the job of restoring his 1936 Rolls Royce Phantom III. He thought he was hiring her father who had passed away a few months ago but had been negotiating the restoration before he became ill. Qadir has reservations but she does seem capable to do it. He sees her love of her job.
Maggie falls in love with the car and knows what she wants to do to get it back to it's loving best. Maggie is still a tomboy really but she just hasn't gotten friendly with any girls/woman in her life. Her father raised her after her mother's death when Maggie was a baby so she's comfortable in a shop with men around. Her best friend and supposed lover had grown apart while her father was so ill. He has found a new girlfriend but still wants to take care of Maggie and she reaches out just before leaving for her new job.
Qadir has he own fear of falling in love but finds he does like Maggie. His father, King Mukhtar, is putting pressure on him to marry but he finds he just doesn't care for all the women the King parades in front of him. He thinks he and Maggie can create a pretend romance then when she finished the car she can leave and he will pretend to be broken hearted and be off his father's list for a few more months.
Of course all backfires for Qadir and Maggie. This is their story of falling in love. Fun book!

The Sheik And The Pregnant Bride (Silhouette Special Edition) Overview

Maggie Collins had come to the exotic kingdom of El Deharia to restore Prince Qadir's antique car...not to get married. The no-frills mechanic had been burned by love before, and marriage--even to a seductive sheik--didn't top her agenda. But then Qadir made her an offer she should have refused. It was meant to be a temporary engagement...until Maggie discovered she was pregnant. Now Qadir was honor-bound to give Maggie and her child the protection of his name. He never expected her to sweep him off his feet. Would there be a royal wedding after all?--This text refers to the Kindle Edition edition.

A Little Bit Pregnant (Silhoutte Special Ed. No 1573) (Readers' Ring series) Review

Nicki Beauman and Zane Rankin may be boss & employee at Rankin/Ritter Security firm, but they're also very close friends. Which is unfortunate, because Nicki has spent the last three years unsuccessfully trying to banish the her mild crush on her attachment-avoiding, bimbo-dating boss while enjoying every minute of his friendly attention. But when Nicki's regular date stands her up, and Zane takes her to a party instead, sparks fly and the couple end up in bed - with unexpected results.
Mallery tells a sweet story in "A Little Bit Pregnant," about a believable heroine who almost never lets being in a wheelchair stop her, and a hero whose charming exterior makes him fun to read while masking a troublesome (but not overdramatic) backstory. The dialog is witty, and even as friends the affection between them shines. Both sides of the story are plausible, and Mallery does well to capture the rift between loving someone and admitting it to yourself.
Readers noting that this is a Follow-up to "Shelter in a Soldier's Arms" (Silhouette SE 1400) will see some similarities between the plotlines, but "Pregnant's" honest take on love, encouraging main characters, and own form of wit make it stand out on its own.

A Little Bit Pregnant (Silhoutte Special Ed. No 1573) (Readers' Ring series) Overview

Uh-oh. Nicole Beauman had overcome a lot of obstacles in her life, and she sure as heck had never backed down from a challenge. But her boss, Zane Rankin, presented an entirely new sort of dilemma. Sexy and charming, he was like chocolate--sinfully good, but bad for her health. Nicki knew Zane didn't want to settle down, particularly not with a girl like her, and she didn't plan to lose her heart to a temporary fling. But when a friendly date got a little too friendly, things got a little bit steamy...and Nicki wound up just a little bit...pregnant. What was a girl to do?

Her Last First Date (Silhouette Special Edition) Review

What a wonderful love story! Both our heroine, Crissy, and our hero, Josh, are wounded souls who finally have the chance to create good memories with each other if they take the plunge but "Crissy doesn't do first dates not that she has had any lately--she hates them. Dating is miserable enough without dealing with the whole *get to know* first date." Josh is the uncle of Crissy's birth child. She gave Brandon to the wonderful adoptive parents over 12 years ago. Abbey & Pete have invited her to be part of Brandon's life all these years and finally she decides she wants to meet him but doesn't want him to be aware she's his birth mother. Josh is the person who has been chosen by his sister-in-law, a little matchmaking, to meet Crissy and make sure she won't complicate Brandon's life.
Josh lost the love of his life 4 years ago and just can't seem to get back into living. He's a pediatric oncologist which keeps him very busy and "looking for miracles each day!" With the little free time he has he spends it with Pete & Abbey and their children.
Crissy has lots of guilty feelings she took the easy way out by giving up her baby and going on with the life she had planned for herself a free ride in college, softball sholarship, and a great job after, she was 17 at the time. Abbey is supermom! so Crissy feels even more out of her element.
Crissy and Josh seem to have an attraction to each other but Crissy feels that it's a bad idea to go for it. What happens when they no longer care for each other?
After Crissy's first visit with Brandon and family Josh follows her home as she seems a little overwhelmed by seeing Brandon is person. They talk and even argue a little before that things got HOT. Josh couldn't believe he was feeling so good but let Crissy set the rules and she decided seeing him wasn't good *just friends* would be better.
Of course she's pregnant and so upset with herself to think she finds herself in this position again but she can keep this baby as she's much older and in a much better place in life. Josh doesn't take the news well and Crissy is even more upset by that. Ms Mallery has given us a warm and cuddly with a little angst love story!

Top-Notch Surgeon, Pregnant Nurse (Harlequin Medical Romance, 366) Review

Beth Rogers is simply not a one-night stand type of woman! However, on that one day she threw caution aside as the arms of one man made her forget the past. Little did she expect to ever see him again... especially not so soon and particularly not as a coworker! Dr. Gabe Fallon is a visiting neurosurgeon and Beth will have to work with him on a delicate case. Gabe and Beth have a lot of emotional baggage to overcome, especially when they realize Beth is pregnant. Does love stand a chance for these two aching souls?
Amy Andrews made me cry. More than once, I should say! TOP-NOTCH SURGEON, PREGNANT NURSE offers one heck of an emotional roller coaster ride. The characters are so vividly drawn that it's impossible not to get caught up in their lives. Gabe and Beth are both hurting in such different ways and it's simply beautiful to see the healing taking place as the story progresses.
Amy Andrews doesn't hesitate to take on tough issues and TOP-NOTCH SURGEON, PREGNANT NURSE is a spectacular example. The depth of her character building draws the reader in but it is the twists that make this story so much more powerful than the title suggests. I don't want to say too much and give the story away but suffice to say that Amy Andrews ensures TOP-NOTCH SURGEON, PREGNANT NURSE is the sort of story that sticks with you long after you've finished the last page. I can't recommend this one highly enough! Absolute perfection!
